The Asia Pacific Weeks and the Wind Energy Conference

The APW Wind Energy Conference is a unique opportunity for the main German, Chinese and Asian players to participate in a high profile meeting in the expanding industry of wind energy.
The conference is part of the Asia Pacific Weeks, the biannual gathering between Germany and Eastern Asian countries. Governments and ministries, business and cultural associations, companies, universities and research institutions, foundations, non-governmental organizations will take part in a series of official meetings and conferences for discussing the latest developments on Mobility and Energy - which is the thematic focus of the 2009 Asia Pacific Weeks.
The wind energy conference will take place on 12 October 2009, in Berlin at the Town Hall.

Objective

The main objective of the conference is to illustrate the benefits and opportunities of investing in the huge Chinese wind energy market. Due to the strong support from the government side, the sector is growing very rapidly; increasing awareness of the impact of renewable energy on the country¡¯s stability has been the major driver for this important growth.
As the market is expanding hugely, all main players of the wind energy industry see China as an outstanding possibility for consolidating their position in the world market.
Developers and manufacturers, expertise companies and investors, energy distributors and high profile renewable energy recruitment firms, banks and insurance companies need to work closely together in order to successfully manage their operations in China, which is going to be by 2020 the largest wind energy market.
The conference will be attended by high profile personalities and professionals: the Chinese National Energy Administration will be present with one of its directors, who will clarify the plans and the strategies of the Chinese government for developing the sector in the long term; experiences from wind power companies that have entered China will focus on the main problems of investing in such a difficult market, where government regulations and restriction are seen as a major obstacle.
The event is also going to be a great occasion for the German wind energy companies to interact with the Chinese and foreign counterparts, for prospecting potential future collaborations. From a technological point of view, Germany is undisputedly the most advanced country in the wind energy sector, and the main problems that China is facing are the same that have been solved here in the past: German experiences and case studies will therefore focus on problems such as distribution and energy production efficiency, which are still characterising the very young Chinese market.

Agenda

The agenda has three versions: English, Chinese and German.
